Haley and Camden's couples session at Reynolda Gardens in Winston-Salem turned into one of my favorite location days this year. The gardens are full of hidden gems, and we spent the morning moving through as many of them as we could.
Why This Garden Works So Well for a Couples Session
Reynolda Gardens isn't just one backdrop, it's dozens of them stitched together. A dark wood gazebo tucked behind hedges, a brick pergola lined with columns, a white pergola framed by climbing greenery, a glass conservatory that looks like it belongs in a different country entirely, a reflecting pond, a long alley of cypress trees leading up to a set of garden steps. We moved through most of it, and every new corner gave us a completely different feel without ever leaving the property.
Real Reactions Over Posed Ones
What stood out most about this session wasn't any single photo, it was how little convincing it took to get real reactions: dancing on the open lawn, a full jump caught mid-air, foreheads pressed together on the pergola steps, a kiss that happened because they wanted to, not because I asked for it. Along the way we also grabbed a handful of detail shots, the garden's flowers, its architecture, even a rabbit that kept wandering into frame near one of the garden rooms.
What You'll Walk Away With
A session like this comes home with real range: wide garden shots that show off the venue, close portraits that show off the two of you, and a few detail images that round out the story of the day. It's the kind of gallery that works as wall art just as easily as it works as a scroll-stopping social post.
