Most brand sessions start with someone showing up and hoping for the best. Annie's did not.
Annie is the esthetician and owner behind Gleam Skin, and before we photographed anything we had a conversation. Not a brief one. A real one where I asked her about her business, her clients, the feeling she wanted people to have when they landed on her page, and what she needed these photographs to actually do for her.
That conversation is where everything starts for me. Thirteen years of commercial work taught me that the planning is the session. The day itself is just execution. After our call I put together a full creative pitch. Not a generic mood board pulled from Pinterest. A specific vision for her session with wardrobe direction, talent considerations, how to structure the day, what we would walk away with and why.
Annie saw it and was immediately on board. We spent the following weeks working through the details together, narrowing down wardrobe, talking through the look and feel, making sure that by the time the session day arrived we both already knew exactly what was going to happen. The session itself was bright, vibrant, and full of personality. It reflected who Annie actually is and what Gleam Skin actually feels like as a brand. That's not an accident. That's the result of doing the work before we ever picked up a camera.
The day was relaxed because we were prepared. There is a real difference between a brand session that wanders around hoping to find good moments and one that is structured to create them. I have worked on both sides of that divide and I can tell you with confidence that preparation is not a luxury. It's the service. For business owners who have ever looked at their website or social media and felt like the photographs weren't doing their brand justice, this is usually why. It's not the photography itself. It's the absence of a process behind it.
Annie walked away with a gallery of brand photographs that feel intentional, cohesive, and genuinely like her business. That's the goal every time.
I offer brand photography sessions for small business owners, estheticians, service providers, and creatives throughout Gibsonville, Burlington, Greensboro, and the surrounding areas of North Carolina. If you're ready to approach your brand photography like the investment it actually is, I'd love to talk through what that process looks like for you.
